5 Tips For Prepping Your Sea‑Doo For Summer Fun

The warmer weather is finally here, which means it’s time to get the Sea‑Doo out of storage and ready for some summer fun! Here are five tips to help you prep your Sea‑Doo for a season of fun in the sun.

  1. Check the engine oil level and, if necessary, change the oil.
  2. Inspect the hull and propeller for any damage that may have occurred over the winter.
  3. Make sure all the lights and electrical systems are in working order.
  4. Test the bilge pump and make sure it’s in good condition.
  5. Check the tire pressure and, if necessary, inflate the tires to the correct pressure.
Following these tips will help you get your Sea‑Doo ready for a summer of fun. So get out there and enjoy the sunny weather!

Get a tune-up

Before you take your Sea-Doo out for a spin, you should get it a tune-up from a certified service shop. This is especially important if you haven’t used it in a while. A tune-up will help ensure that your Sea-Doo runs smoothly and efficiently all season long.

The mechanics at the service shop will inspect your Sea-Doo and adjust or replace any worn-out parts. In addition, they will check fuel filters, cables, throttle, spark plugs, and steering to ensure the correct levels are met.

This is also a good time to have your Sea-Doo inspected and serviced, including changing the drive belt, cleaning the cooling system, and replacing worn-out components.

Getting a tune-up before the summer starts helps to ensure your Sea-Doo is ready and reliable for your adventures on the water.

Check your fuel lines

Keeping the fuel lines of your Sea‑Doo in good condition is also essential for safe and reliable use. Check any fuel lines, fuel hoses, and fuel pumps for signs of wear and tear. Replace any fuel line and hoses that have gone bad. Making sure your fuel lines are in good condition will prevent any fuel leaks and help your Sea‑Doo run smoothly.

If you notice a fuel line is loose or has any defects, it is important to replace it. Doing your due diligence and inspecting the fuel lines once a month can help prevent any issues while you are out on the water.

Being proactive about maintenance and ensuring that all fuel lines of your Sea‑Doo are secure and working as they should help you enjoy your summertime adventures at sea.

Change the oil

Oil is an essential part of most engines, including those in Sea‑Doos. As such, regularly changing the oil in or Sea‑Doos is a part of routine maintenance. It is valuable in lubricating and protecting the engine from damage caused by wear and tear from use.

Changing the oil prevents dirt, particles, and other debris from getting into the engine and helps to keep it running smoothly. Ideally, oil should be changed at least once a year or every time you use the Sea‑Doo for a total of five hours.

Before hitting the water, be sure to change your Sea‑Doo’s oil. Doing so will have you feeling confident and secure while you’re out on the water this summer.

Check your battery

Most Sea‑Doos come with a battery that powers the engine start-up. In addition to the engine start-up, they also provide auxiliary power to run some Sea‑Doo’s electronics and lights. As such, it is important to check on the condition of your Sea‑Doo’s battery before hitting the water.

If the battery is more than three years old, it is best to replace it. Likewise, if it is more than three years old but still looks and works fine, it is best to replace it too. Doing so will ensure you won’t have to get stranded on the water due to a battery failure.

When checking your battery, make sure it has the right level of charge and is filled up with distilled water. If the battery is corroded or has a build-up of sediment, be sure to clean it before use. If you find any warning signs of damage or faulty connections, it is best to consult a professional for the necessary replacements or repairs.

Don't forget about your trailer

Using a trailer ensures a safe and easy way to transport your Sea-Doo. But before you hit the road, there are a few things you should do to get your trailer seafaring-ready.

Firstly, check the brakes on your trailer for wear and tear. You can do this easily by visually inspecting the brakes and looking for signs of cracking on the rubber parts. If any of the parts are worn out, you should consider replacing them.

You should also inspect the tires for damage such as bulges or balding treads. If any of the tires look worn out, consider replacing them for your safety and the safety of the rest of the travelers on the road.

Next, check the hitch, and make sure the coupler fits securely to the ball mount. Check the trailer lights and make sure they are all in working condition. Ensure that the turn signals flash correctly.

Lastly, make sure the trailer is hooked up to your Sea-Doo correctly and that the trailer is stable when you hit the road.
Tuning up your Sea-Doo prior to taking it out on the open sea is essential for your summer fun. Having the right supplies ready to go ahead of time is key to a successful and entertaining experience.
